Thomas Burgess was born approximately 1790 and believed to be the brother of Carter Burgess who was born in North Carolina. Both men lived in Greenville County South Carolina and later moved to De Kalb County Alabama. Thye may also have had a brother James. Thomas married Mary Ross. Carter Burgess married her sister Elizabeth Ross.
