England has long been known to be the homeland of the Burgess surname. The county of Cheshire has historically had the highest density of people with the Burgess surname however the name has been recorded in the early parish registers of several counties and beyond in Ireland and Scotland.   At present the oldest genetic signature we have is based in Sussex and we do have at least one old signature in Cheshire.
