He is listed in the 1871 census with his father, in 1881 at North Mimms with his grandfather (another of John Sr.’s grandsons, William  Burgess [born 1870], is living with them), in 1891 at Caddington, Hertfordshire Co., England, and in 1901 at South Mimms, Middlesex Co., England. He died there after 1901, having had at least six sons:
