K1-K2 Laurens - Clay - Scott

There is much work to do on this genetic group. The terminal SNP from the only BigY test in this group is over 3,000 years old with over 40 downstream branches and therefore of little use at this time. All these families are related but only 2 members appear to remain active. The Davis family appears closest to the Kentucky line which is almost as old as the Joel line from South Carolina. However it is difficult with Y-37 tests to be any more precise about the relationships between matches. There is simply not enough data. When looking at the Y-37 STR results the genetic distance between the Burgess members is a genetic distance of 3, the span of years this covers is between 1000CE-1800CE. The block immediately below the terminal SNP  R-BY3322 contains over 32 private variants so the defining SNP for this Burgess family remains  hidden for now.

Project members: 5
Terminal SNP: R-BY3322

Ancestral Families:

Joel Burgess of Laurens Co., South Carolina Terminal SNP: Unknown
John R. Burgess of Clay Co., Alabama Terminal SNP: Unkown
Thomas Burgess of Scott Co., Kentucky Terminal SNP: Unknown
John Burgess Terminal SNP:  R-BY3322
Davis Terminal SNP: Unknown

Research Objectives:

1. Obtain a BigY from any of the remaining project members would help, but ideally from another Burgess that has identified their line.
