John Phillip Burgess of Walla Walla Co., Washington

John Phillip Burgess was born on 16 April 1818 in Virginia. He married Rebecca Harper on 31 August 1846 in Johnson Co., Indiana (her surname is listed in John T.’s death record; she was born January 1829 in Indiana; they were separated or divorced). He is listed in the 1850 census for Morgan Co., Indiana, in 1860 in Johnson Co., Indiana, and in 1880 in Walla Walla Co., Washington (however, no places of birth for his parents are listed); he has not been found in 1870, but the 1868 birth of his daughter Diana occurred in Indiana, while his youngest son, George P., was born in Washington in 1873; his former wife appears as head of the family in Dixie, Walla Walla Co., in 1900. He died there on 30 July 1882 (buried in the IOOF Section, Mountain View Cemetery), having had five sons:

John Thomas Burgess is the ancestor of R. R. Burgess.

Test results received from one representative of this family currently do not match the numbers of any other Burgess Project line.
